Key Findings:
Samsung’s Clear Dominance: With 47.5% market share, Samsung is by far the most used phone brand in Zimbabwe, capturing nearly half of all users and more than four times the share of the second-place brand.
Chinese Budget Brands Strong: Itel (9.7%), Tecno (7.6%), and Infinix (1.8%) collectively represent 19.1% of the market, showing strong presence of affordable Chinese brands targeting budget-conscious consumers.
Huawei’s Solid Position: Despite US sanctions and Google services restrictions, Huawei maintains 11.7% market share, indicating loyal user base and brand strength in Zimbabwe.
iPhone’s Premium Niche: At 8.1%, iPhone maintains respectable presence despite premium pricing, showing a segment of Zimbabwean consumers prioritize Apple’s ecosystem and brand.
Xiaomi’s Growing Presence: 6.0% for Xiaomi (including Redmi, Poco, Mi sub-brands) shows the Chinese brand’s emerging position in the value-for-money segment.
Nokia’s Decline: Once dominant, Nokia now holds just 2.1%, reflecting its fall from market leadership to niche player.

Samsung’s 47.5% dominance reflects its successful strategy of offering phones across all price ranges – from budget Galaxy A-series to premium flagship S and Z-series – capturing customers at every economic level. The brand’s reliability, widespread service network, and Android ecosystem appeal to Zimbabwean consumers.
The strong showing of budget Chinese brands (Itel, Tecno, Infinix, Xiaomi) demonstrates price sensitivity in the market, with many consumers seeking smartphones that deliver essential functionality at affordable prices.
iPhone’s 8.1% represents the premium market segment willing to pay significantly more for Apple’s ecosystem, brand prestige, and perceived quality, despite Zimbabwe’s economic challenges.
